The answer to your question is really simple. BEHL is not in the business of making fuel OR food. They make PBRs and service them. The person who buys the PBR can make anything they choose. BEHL will supply the strain of algae for fuel, food, cosmetics, or medicinal.
That is the true strength of this company. All of their customers will be paying for maintainance on their system.
Before we can sell the algae strain we have to know what will work the best for each application. That is why BEHL has smaller PBRs. They are easy to clean and reload with a new strain.
I dont think a poor test is a bad thing it is just a way to add one of the 3000 strains of algae to the "do not use" list.
As for why BEHL would choose food as its first product? Food algae is $9000 a ton and fule algae is about $1500 a ton. If you are going to produce a "small" amount to use as working capital then food is the right choice.
All the PRs, bashers, pumping and speculation in the world doesnt change the fact that the cheapest way to produce bulk algae of any strain is a multi million dollar product. We all just have to wait for things to build up. I have total faith in DF and the BEHL team
