I enjoyed your explanation of gliding. Like my balloon flight, my glider introduction took place on a hot, hazy, summer day. We didn't find any rising air at all. In about twenty minutes, my feet were back on the ground.
The glider had a piece of yarn tied to a stick jutting up in front of me. The game was to get the yarn to point toward my nose. (I think they called it a yaw indicator.) Anyway, this yarn would dance like crazy in the wind. I was tempted to grab it after we landed and hold it to my nose. It would've been the only time it came close.
