IMO in 20 years there will be more cars running on electricity than cars running on fuels. Technology will advance so far in 20 years we'll look back and be amazed at how we used to do it. Also note that it's very likely in 20 years you will not be allowed to drive your own car within city limits. Your car will drive for you.



Electric cars have a VERY deep effect on the whole fuel process. For every X number of electric cars that go on the road, a tanker hauling gas to a gas station comes off the road. For every XX electrics put on the road, one 40 million gallon crude tanker disappears from the ocean. And so on and so on.

But if no one is 'burning' petro fuels in 10-20 years in order to cut down polution, who will you sell your oil to at a profit?

If you can produce enough electricity from it to sell on the grid at a profit...then you may be OK.
