The music is not "given away".

I respectively disagree!

...sort of...

It's difficult for the public to understand (understandably) why they can't replay a song they just heard on a public media. They have done it since broadcasting began.

Once it is broadcast publicly, it's public, just like everything else that is broadcast, regardless of claims to the contrary by lawyers/legal mumbo jumbo/disclaimers, etc.

IMHO.(legal disclaimer):o)

It's ridiculous really. How is the public supposed to know what is legal to "rebroadcast" or not?

The internet has put a crimp in that easy money. <g>

Not to mention the very difficult enforcement issue.......

Pay the artists up front????

Oiy..there's an idea.....

Just a late night thought.

:o)

Consumers have been sharing scrolls, books, vinyl records etc since they became available (thanks to Ben Franklin et al). Now that an easy and CHEEEEP method of copying "material" is available, it will be impossible to keep people from doing so.

If a message is "broadcast" and I capture it, its mine. I agree I may not be able to DO with it what I want. The costs of controlling the message; music, text, video, will be prohibitive.
