ChangJiang will license its books free to CHL. All the books will be
converted to the company's proprietary mobile publishing system so
that customers can download directly from its website. Users can
either pay membership or download fees to access the thousands of
books that will be available. There will be two ways the customer can
download. Either directly to his smart cell phone or to a personal
computer and then transferred to a cell phone. The agreement enables
access to both historical and contemporary books that ChangJiang
publishes. Profits will be shared by both companies.
ChangJiang Publishing is in business for almost 50 years and and
produces more than 4,000 books through its marketing network in all of
China. It has more than 100 copyright agreements with foreign
publishing organizations At a pace of over 150 net titles each year
its sales volumes have increased 10-fold in the past decade and is
over $130 million annually.
