Based on the accounting Y!, I compute the value of WAMUQ Common Stock to be more than $15.41 as shown below:
• Negative common stock holders’ equity (as shown per Balance Sheet filed By WAMUQ with Trustee/S.E.C.) -$1.4 Billion • Cash* on deposit at WaMu +4.4 • Minimum Refund amount due from IRS because of Net Operating Losses* (NOLs) carried back to prior years (as shown in footnote to WAMUQ’s Balance Sheet filed by WAMUQ with Trustee/S.E.C.) +2.6
Value from accounting Y! (Not including Unliquidated Claims) 20.6
TOTAL $26.2 Billion Billion
*Currently in litigation
$26.2 Billion divided by 1.7 Billion WAMUQ common shares outstanding = $15.41
If it's going to take about $20B just to pay off the Creditors and the Preferreds, that doesn't leave very much left for the Commons. But then again, considering the fire-sale WaMu was sold to JPM for, that'd leave a lot of room to wiggle if the court makes them pay at least fair value for WaMu.
What is the approximate book value of WaMu at present. This is going to be a very large deciding factor for those that are debating if the Preferreds are a better route to take than the commons. Lets hear some numbers!
