What is the saddest thing of all about this twisted story of intrigue is the fact that they could have gotten away with it for a very long time were it not for their unbridled greed.
If only they had just kept the money clean and not tried to treat the IRS as if the government was as stupid as the investment public.
Just think of it. There would never have been a cash car speeding across West Texas. There would never had been a suspicious trip to Costa Rica. Sure the IRS would have gotten 35% of the profits but the profits would have gone on and on. Crap! They would still be in business today and no one would be the wiser. Their worst nightmare would be a SEC investigation which would have cost them all about $50K each to make go away with no admission of guilt.
