Good question. We were wondering the same thing after the April financing, when those shares were being gobbled up. For those 8.7 mil shares back then, all I can say is that the main buyers probably weren't the institutional holders listed on Yahoo, since the largest owner there (other than BAM) only had 375 K shares as of 6-30-09.
So I guess it must be some combination of institutions like private equity, hedge funds, bio mutual funds, plus some individuals, and perhaps some of these entities buy through subsidiaries / intermediaries. Bottomline, someone has been picking up a ton of shares.
Maybe Jim Haynes decided to get back in, to the tune of 20 mil shares :o)
