IMO, get zecco just to trade. you can always subscribe for more premium tools from zecco (haven't tried them, but they're probably similar to TDA), iHUB, or other places.
i never transferred an account to zecco, so i don't know their policies regarding that.
In fact I was happy with eTrade for many years. They wouldn't let me buy ZIOP without broker's assistance and that cost me DEARLY one day. Once I transferred to Fidelity and started using Active Trader Pro I realized how weak Power eTrade Pro is. Then when I tried to transfer to TD I started familiarizing myself with their Strategy Desk, which has even more features than Fidelity. Bottom line is I don't think I can stomach going back to eTrade, but I can't stomach Fidelity's commisions either.
Don't mean to whine, just looking for what works for others...
Etrade nickled and dimed me to death, so I switched to Scottrade. Their reps are always available and I have never had to call for help with any trades.
