Re Indy: The CA energy crisis.

"You make a decent point here kid."

Thanks. I wish I could concede points more often, but it always seems to detract from my one sided view. I'm not as open minded as you are, if you haven't noticed that yet.<G>

I think the California energy crisis was caused by a few reasons.

1. Deregulation. While deregulation is a good thing on the whole, it would have been better if they had just kept the industry regulated rather than screwing around with partial deregulation and suppliers and resellers. They should have either completely deregulated like some of the other states did, or not changed anything at all. Another example of phucking phence sitters. Obviously, I believe that deregulation would have been the wiser choice.

2. Environmental wackos. I have no problem with people voluntarily paying higher costs to live in the environment of their choice. If an entire state wishes to go nuts and ban power plants, so be it. But they need to realize that they will have to deal with the consequences. They cannot rely on the rest of the country to bail them out and continue to support their environmental wackiness.

3. Price controls Bad. Completely ignores basic economics. They should have known better.

I'm sure there are other reasons, but that's what I could come up with off the top of my head.
