You'd benefit if they ran the price to $2 and you sold at $1.50 (10x current PPS).
Or you'd benefit from being in a stock with $4B in cash and 2.5B shares (or over $1.50 per share in cash). Even if SPNG was only valued based on cash per share, you would again be looking at a 10-bagger from here.
Or, plug in your own prices.
Or, maybe there is some legal requirement such that this option remain on the table to avoid entrapment.
Or, maybe having this option on the table will help to entrap the shorts (if they think they'll be able to settle cheaply).
I really have no idea.
