Major distortions, mischaracterizations and logical inconsistencies. Or as the Bush team calls them: applause lines.
Iraq has always been a no win situation. Too many people understood that before the war. Bush was grossly incompetent to not listen, an ineptness that quite possibly was nurtured by the fact that he wanted this war before 9/11 and is therefore guilty of subjectively sifting or filtering out any data that did not correspond with his long standing desire to invade Iraq as seen in the 1996 document, A Clean Break: A New Strategy for Securing the Realm, which called for the elimination of the Saddam Hussein regime in Baghdad, as a first step towards overthrowing or destabilizing the governments of Syria, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and Iran.
Even beyond the tribal elements that contribute to the probability of a civil war what the world understands and what escapes Americans is that Bush has to be stopped in Iraq before he does any more damage.
He is quite simply mad and the United States is viewed by most countries as a rogue nation. This is readily seen in international opinion polls that vehemently reject Bush.
Very good article.
