China Deploys Troops to Protect Three Gorges Dam

Earlier this year the United States suggested that the Three Gorges Dam could be targeted by those wanting to deter Chinese military threats against Taiwan.

Excuse me but aren’t we the ones who want to deter Chinese military threats against Taiwan? We are the most powerful ally Taiwan has; we are the ones who must defend Taiwan. Even Australia left skid marks shouting out the window something about sitting this one out. If Japan or another country is thinking about targeting Three Gorges, why rat on a friendly country aligned to our cause? China is our number one enemy. To give the warning, to know this much, implies we probably have control over the mysterious yet disgruntled would be perpetrator.

This is strange; please tell me numbnuts in the White House is not planning on blowing up the damn dam.

By China’s reaction they seem to be taking the threat seriously.

China says it has deployed heavily armed troops and equipment to the gigantic Three Gorges Dam to protect the multibillion dollar project from any terrorist attack.

Chinese state-run media report the forces are patrolling near the dam in central Hubei province. Beijing has also deployed military helicopters, patrol boats and bomb-disposal robots in the region.

China did not suggest that the project was subject to any recent threat. Earlier this year the United States suggested that the Three Gorges Dam could be targeted by those wanting to deter Chinese military threats against Taiwan.

The Three Gorges Dam, the largest water control project in China, is intended to tame the flood-prone Yangtze River and increase the country's power supply.
