Private-equity firms that are in talks to buy American International Group's (AIG) aircraft leasing business are trying to raise money from sovereign wealth funds to help keep the deal on track, the New York Post reported Wednesday, citing sources close to the situation. Onex Corp. and Greenbriar Equity Group, in exclusive talks to buy AIG's International Lease Finance Corp., need more financing to satisfy ILFC lenders. The U.S. government may also increase its $5 billion guarantee of aircraft leasing debt to help attract more investors, a source said. AIG declined to comment.
