I do not think that's right.
When a split is done, brokers freeze accounts for 1 to 3 days while they make the change (because certificates have to be exchanged). Some brokers are faster than others and during that time so few shares are available that the PPS takes wide swings. If you have a fast broker, you often get an opportunity to make some money before liquidity returns and the price settles down.
I haven't been involved in a symbol change in a while but since there is no split, I believe it will be instantaneous and everyone will be trading MIKP at the open tomorrow.
