To me looks like if the $tran hits about 3220ish this quarter, then she's off to the races. Can't figure it out either. I suppose the transports could be saying that in 6 -9 months things will be clearer???????? g BTW it also could explain the rising summations and the oscillators that need a rest but are still holding up. Tune up Ned Beaty if they all break up. g

Gtober> The trans are carrying

record amounts of tonnage into and around the country via imports, for that matter around the world, even as our own production remains tepid. Thusly the trans are doing better than our industrials. Also they have been able to absorb the rising costs of energy by jacking up their freight rates to record levels and passing them on. Now as the soft patch turns into an outright global recession, the trans should start to get hit hard, as the debt ladden consumer stops buying.

$TRANS Rising is a Sick Joke: Consumers tapped out, business hiring/ travel weak, continued SARS risk and new variants of animal-borne flus, poor airline management, pension liabilities likely to be transferred to Feds-taxpayers, excess capacity in the system, recent terror attacks on planes in Russia show continued vulnerability, staff problems and turnover at the TSA, slowdown in Asia going to hurt FedEx

Hey, everything's great
As Tim Wood on Financial Sense Online pointed out, the Trannies could be manipulated for just $12m/day..

Maybe the transports are predicting a big general market surge coming. I still think growth will soon start to return and many stocks will surge during the 4th quarter.

Looks like oil will continue to underperform the Dow until it doesn't.

Pretty interesting on the $wtic:$compq. Looks like it has been a long time coming (4 years) but the outperformance of crude vs the compq performance will be subdued for quite a while. Which may also explain the $tran apparent strength.
