Coltie... total agreement on the Unplugged series...
Quick Manhattan reminiscence coming up... when I was with MTC we had performing spaces at City Center... CC's lighting designer also lit the Unplugged series... Tony (Anthony) Terzi (spelling?)... he got me a crew pass so I could see one of the Bob Dylan tapings... they do them in two nights and edit the best together for the show...
Got there "late" because I went straight from the theatre and wound up standing toward the back which was about 40' from the stage... don't think the house seated more than 250... 300... they make it look big by the way they pack the audience for the shoot... if you carefully look behind the musicians you'll see that the audience risers don't go higher than about 4 rows... the group in front is jammed into folding chairs... shot close... it looks like an extended sea of people...
Wound up dancing with two guys who were standing in the back with me... turned around and noticed one of my neighbors... Steve Van Zandt (lived across the street in a luxury high rise known as the Sheffield)...
One of those great, great memorable evenings... Happy sigh... :-)
