Biopure Files For Bankruptcy Protection, Sets Asset Sale

Biopure Corp. (BPUR) filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection to clear the way for the sale of its assets to OPK Biotech LLC.
Biopure, which develops technologies that intravenously deliver oxygen to body tissue, said five months ago that it was exploring options. At the time, the company also said its auditors had raised doubts about the company's ability to continue as a going concern. The Food and Drug Administration dealt another blow to the company when it put a trial for its Hemopure product on hold.
It appears that OXBO has outlasted the competition FWIW.
