Yep, I"ve been hitting VZ short recently because in the long run, it smells up the place. So far, it's been a bit early, but it will sink. Lots of announcements lately...circuit city, et al. The bigger picture isn't so bright though imho.

Sounds like a citywide wireless internet is not all that expensive when you deduct what they would already have to pay for cable or DSL service in schools, offices, city hospitals, city police, city fire stations and the myriad other government buildings. I assume there could be additional savings on cell phone and regular telephone service as city workers could use laptops and desktops to get information from the internet instantaneously rather than dialing up supervisors or co-workers to get the latest directions or updates.

at least that was surely some of the sales pitch.

the number cited seems awful cheap when I do a quick multiplication of what I pay monthly for DSL times God only knows how many homes and businesses now paying Verizon in my area.

VZ looks to take a beating here?
