The White House often cites Libya's decision as evidence of progress in its efforts to keep weapons of mass destruction out of the hands of terrorists. On Monday, President Bush said while campaigning that Gaddafi had "heard a clear message and voluntarily got rid of his weapons of mass destruction program." http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A47259-2004Aug30.html
Yeah right!!! The clear message Gaddafi heard was a gunshot.
Another case where Bush is taking credit where it is not due.
President Bush has been quick to claim the great Libyan turnaround as one of the welcome by-products of the Iraq war. Gadhafi does not want to be the next Middle Eastern maverick to mess with the U.S. Marines, goes the Bush administration's argument. But European sources who know Gadhafi say he is less concerned about the U.S. threat than the threat from Osama bin Laden.
In reality, bin Laden's organization al-Qaida has tried more than once to assassinate Gadhafi, on one occasion actually wounding him in the arm and leg. #msg-2702218
And America’s heartland who has the combined IQ of a salad bar is going to buy this.
