An Aside:From the underground structure the greatest threat to Sadr and Sistani being assassinated is Zarqawi, the CIA knowing this could make a clandestine Zarqawi imitating assassination of Sadr, or somehow, with double agents lead Zarqawi to assassinate Sadr.
Thing to keep in mind is Zarqawi, in my view, has no time for Shi'tes other than kill them----there can only be war between Shi'ites and the element Zarqawi represents.
Also, if Seymour Hersh is right, the Israeli plan B is already active in Kurdistan which is to assist and train Kurds to fight to become independent.
All and all a huge witches pot with a simmering brew of dark events ahead is sitting at bottom this opened Pandora's Box,imo.
