No, you're right. We didn't hijack planes and fly them into high rise buildings. We've bombed them repeatedly, killing thousands of innocents, and all for oil. Western governments make up other reason but, ultimately, it's all about oil. If you lost a loved one on 911, would it matter if it was terrorists who flew a plane into a building, or if the Saudi government dropped a bomb on the building. The Saudis were ultimately responsible for 911. They paid for it. Islamism declared war on us in '98. Islamism's weapon of choice was aircraft.

I am in no way justifying what happened on 911, but history is key to a real understanding of global events, wars and conflicts. Even if you disagree, isn't Mideast history worthy of consideration given the scourge of terrorism coming from the region?

Another point regarding 911, don't you think it's interesting that Bush, the War turned Peace president and terror hawk, is so unpopular in NY and NJ where most were personally and/or directly effected by the 911 tragedy? Many terrorism experts believe NY will be hit again. It's not a matter of if but when. Bush will be welcomed in NYC like he's been welcomed in so many Euro countries, with protests.

I'm playing devil's advocate here, but trying to make a point.

We make no effort to understand history or culture in the Mideast which was a major flaw in our so-called Iraq war planning. We complain that Saudis teach hatred of Christians and Jews in their schools. But after decades of bombings did we think they'd teach, "Chistians and Jews are GOOD. Arabs deserved it."

Again, devil's advocate. But when we, Americans, consider the very real war on terror, we refuse to put the current situation in historical context. Why's that?
