#103 RE: stkjunky #102

Yeah, it's kind of like watching the three stooges run a mining company.

They had eight months to put in a Mercury scrubbing system. They could have bought one off the shelf and had it professionally installed in that time. Instead, they decide to cut corners and jury-rig one themselves. But they forget all about the fiberglass ducting. Dooh!!!

Last time I looked there isn't any global shortage of fiberglass. How hard is it to get a piece of ducting fabricated? Why not have a temp made out of sheet metal? That has to be more cost effective than shutting down a second time.

Also, why did the NDEP even let YNG re-start if the Mercury scrubber wasn't working? That's what got them shut down (and all this crap about them deciding to shut down themselves is nonsense - the NDEP finally got tired of looking the other way and refused to let them re-start on at least one occasion). All the other roasters in Nevada have working Mercury scrubbers - what gives these guys the right to belch toxic metal all over the place?

Hold their feet to the fire. If I had to guess, YNG will run the stockpile through the roaster and pocket the dough. Unless Newmont gives them a new toll-milling contract (and why would they after how poorly the last one worked out), YNG will shut its doors and put the Jerritt Canyon complex on the auction block sometime next year.

It's still a good facility, just not with these clowns running the circus.
