A different article about an outlet closing. I have issues with this company, but not about closing outlet stores. Just my personal experience, but the outlet mall that went great guns 15 years ago in my area (North Idaho) is now a ghost town with a couple anchor stores, then insurance offices and a church in between vacant store fronts. I do stop at the Snoqualmie outlets when going to Seattle, they still have quite a few stores. But, imo, the proliferation of off retail stores like Ross, TJ Maxx, Big Lots, Burlington Coat Factory etc. that buy returns and excess stock at a discount and sell below retail, have made it easier and cheaper for manufactures to reduce inventory, rather than renting and staffing their own brick and mortar store. Also the internet is an easier more cost effective way to market old stock. So, the fact that outlet stores are closing does not make me think we are in trouble. Anyway here is the article... http://www.westportnow.com/index.php?/v2/comments/23839/
