While Patrick Jeffers and Isaac Byrd rehab from injuries, Steve Smith is competing for a starting job. According to the Charlotte Observer, Smith has been practicing with the first-team opposite Muhsin Muhammad. Head coach John Fox says that Smith will get an opportunity to win the job.

Yawn. Smith, Jeffers, and Byrd is not the mix of talent you would like to see competing for a starting wide receiver job. Sorry Chris Weinke, but your options will be limited this fall.
