You’re right—Clive Meanwell’s comments before Congress were a pile of BS predicated on the notion that talking up your high moral standing will induce Congress to act in your favor. Meanwell has the perfect surname for attempting such a ploy! :- )

Did you see the post about MDCO’s offering a $60M above-board bribe to the USPTO to get the Angiomax patent extended? In retrospect, I’m not sure Congress should have rejected this attempt out of hand. Allowing the USPTO to auction extensions to expiring patents could be a way for the federal government to raise a very material amount of money :- )
