i do concur with ZEEV on his names...although i don't follow them closely on a fundamental basis.

IMO, enterprise software stocks have collapsed to very low valuations. This sector is so out favor, comparable to networrking at the end of 2002.

There are some fundamental/disruptive changes happening in that sector. I like: VRTS, MERQ, Bea (which remain a controversial, but with tremendous upside)and ARBA (very speculative)

I still like a lot JNPR....but probably near term will remain under pressure because of CSCO.

Bea is a long story...yes low-end apps servers are commodities...But for mission-critical apps I don't see open source app servers being used anytime soon.
In fact I believe that open source is helping J2EE proliferate...some developers start out small for depatmental projects...but then they need scalability/reliability...and move towards Weblogic.

Anyway, Now is about providing the platform (app server+ portal + integration+ ESB....) and bea is the only to be able to provide an integrated platform.

Platform is becoming key, because companies want more adaptable systems, they want to integrate processes quickly, expose them to new trading partners...creating new business process in order to capture new competitive advanatges...this trend is happening, slowly, but I think it is gradually picking up steam and Bea is extremely well positioned in it.

With their Beehive iniative, more and more developers are considering their Workshop tool to build and assemble a SOA.
