MSTR Loses BOBJ Suit- just another little detail
Business Objects: U.S. District Court Issues Final Orders in Favor of Business Objects in MicroStrategy Case (BOBJ) 18.40 +0.49: Further to its announcement on June 8, 2004, Business Objects today announced that on Friday, August 6, 2004, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia (Norfolk Division), issued two formal decisions in favor of Business Objects in the case of MicroStrategy Incorporated v. Business Objects S.A. and Business Objects Americas. In one opinion and order, the Court granted summary judgment of non-infringement in favor of Business Objects, rejecting all of MicroStrategy's claims of patent infringement of United States Patent No. 6,260,050. In the other opinion and order, the Court resolved MicroStrategy's claims of misappropriation of trade secrets which were tried in October 2003. The Court rejected MicroStrategy's (MSTR -0.19) claims of misappropriation as to hundreds of documents, as well as its request for the issuance of a broad injunction. Instead, the Court found that a former Business Objects employee had misappropriated two documents, both of which were created in 2001, and it issued a very narrow injunction ordering Business Objects not to "possess, use or disclose" the two documents. The Court also rejected MicroStrategy's request for attorneys' fees.
