It is not the first time the USA accuses Russia of cooperation with 'unreliable' regimes. A scandal has recently occurred during the Iraqi war. American officials said the Iraqi army was outfitted with GPS systems of the Russian production - the systems supposedly interfered in targeting missiles and aircraft bombs. There was no convincing evidence presented to prove it, though.
Yes and the Russians never really denied it loudly either as far as I know. I ran into some British fly boys that were on R&R in the Czech Republic just after the first wave of bombing Bahgdad. One of the guys was really upset and got pretty loosed lipped as he drank. According to him all GPS tecnology was out. Nada. At that time the Brits and the U.S. Forces were flying as one and were hearing each others radio transmissions back at the base. British Pilots were ordered back to the base. American pilots were order to just drop the bombs on the civilian population without the GPS guiding system. A few days later American soldiers accidentally shot Russian "diplomats" leaving Bahgdad.
