ASHBURN, VIRGINIA (TICKER) -- The Washington Redskins strengthened the interior of their defensive line on Tuesday, signing free agent tackle Santana Dotson.
Terms were not disclosed.
Dotson, 32, joins the Redskins after spending the last six seasons with the Green Bay Packers. Last season, he reclaimed his starting spot at defensive tackle after missing the entire 2000 campaign with a torn quadriceps and collected 39 tackles and 3 1/2 sacks in 16 games.
With Washington, the 6-5, 287-pound Dotson will join a tackle rotation that includes Kenard Lang and Dan Wilkinson.
The signing of Dotson comes one day after the Redskins released starting defensive end Marco Coleman in a salary cap move.
A 10-year veteran, Dotson has started 129 of 152 games in his career, amassing 482 tackles and 49 sacks.
The Redskins did not stop with the signing of Dotson as they also reached an agreement on a contract with offensive lineman Kipp Vickers, who started 14 of 16 games for Baltimore last season at right tackle.
