#44742 RE: CTTC #44741

This is a quote from the BDS 04/29/09

Bravakis said they are open to other development on the site. He repeated the offer Laidlaw President Michael Bartoszek made to the city council to help the city set up a nonprofit organization and go after funding to purchase the remaining 60 acres from North American Dismantling. Bravakis said the northern half is more developable because there is less industrial debris there and it is further from the downtown.

Another Berlin council meeting recap:

We propose the formation of a non-profit organization organized under section 501c3 of the tax code to acquire the Northern property. The non-profit entity will be guided by a board of directors comprised of city representatives, business leaders and others from the private sector and academia who will oversee a plan to redevelop the balance of the site. We are willing to provide seed funding for this entity and also use our resources to obtain additional funding. We believe this plan will create a significant economic development opportunity for the city.
