p.s. What’s the upper limit in your definition of small-cap?

$1 billion; I know some consider up to $2 billion small-cap but I generally won't look at anything north of $1 billion. And my typical investments, such as IDIX today, tend to be under $250 million which is really in micro-cap land. http://www.investopedia.com/terms/m/microcapstock.asp

p.p.s. Good decision on IDIX. Be patient, don’t focus unduly on the tape, and you should have a good chance to make some decent money.

Some investors are more short-term and some are more long-term but I generally think of myself as somewhere in-between. Biotechs ebb and flow so much that I usually like to set a specific price target and get out once that has been reached and move on to the next stock. You have to be flexible and I will change my thinking depending on newsflow but I'm not one to just buy and hold a stock for years in trying to predict the long-term direction of the stock. I just think that's so difficult and unpredictable.
