I always thought it was a business move. Drill off-structure to find some oil/hydrocarbons with a net pay of what was it, 150? This way, they keep certain companies out due to low numbers. Gold prospectors did the same thing years ago, getting multiple claims so they could throw off the other guy. I am optimistic on the area, yet the proof is in the oil - err pudding.

Canaccord suggest that the Obo-1 well deliberately did not target the largest pre-drill prospect in JDZ block 1, (ie A1). They suggest a smaller but more certain prospect on the other side of a fault was selected in order to be almost certain of hitting oil not gas, to calibrate the seismic and to confuse the other companies still negotiating nearby blocks.
