Larry,

It appears that you have run the tests that I am so anwiouxly awaiting to see. I don't expect X_DEV or ANY system to produce results nearly as well as the optimized period. In fact during the time frame you have cited I think it would be very interesting to see what the annual rate of return for the "in sample" period was vs the real world "out of sample" results. Could you post your results for each security.

I am anxiously awaiting the Windows version of the software so I can comfortably perform similar tests.

So I will answer your questions backwards.

3) What hype? There has been no "hype" in the classical sense of that word in my opinion. There has been an enthusiastic response, probably due to the fact that most people who have looked into X_DEV in more than a superficial way seem to recognize it's value. I see no grand claims being bandied about that X_DEV is the Holy Grail or the answer to everyone's needs. I even suggested as much myself only yesterday. So that statement needs to be retracted.

2) Of course their would be no way to know what the optimized settings would be before hand. That's why I developed X_DEV in the first place and that's why it is one of the main functions of the X_DEV system. To find out where the bands would have been to produce the best results so one can find the best targets in the present.

1) You should define what you mean by "works". If what you mean is "why is the system helpful in producing better results than most traders can produce without a balanced systematic mechanical approach to trading", than you need to re-read this thread and the available X_DEV information again.
