"OK we agree on the first part of your post and I'll meet you half way on the second. I respect the Jehovahs when they come a knocking. My point there is that I'm probably just as religious but in a different fashion."

Then we agree on the second part also -- assuming it applies to Christians as well as to Jehovah's Witnesses. That is all we ask. When a Christian starts to witness to you, you have the right to tell him to back off, and he should respect that, even though it is asking a lot of him. He feels correctly, that He is commanded by Scripture to witness to you and whoever else God places in front of him, and he knows that if you refuse to listen you will spend eternity in Hell, so he sees your refusal to listen as an eternal death sentence for you. Like I said, he is Scripturally correct, so keep in mind that he is really doing a act of love for you, in his eyes.

Unfortunately, far too many Christians are ignorant of the rest of Scriptural teaching on the subject -- that we are only responsible to explain the Gospel message as best as we can, and the rest is up to God, not us. When a person is incorrectly convinced that it is somehow up to him or her to "win you over" by his or her arguments, it leads to them browbeating the other person rather than just bearing witness to the Gospel. That does no one any good for even in those cases where it appears to be effective, it is not the "arguments" that bought about the change, it is the power of the Gospel of God.
