Hi John,
re: AE and VKR sure...
Congratulations on AE and you could change that to stupid stupid Kastel ... I got you beat :o(
My AE holdings are even a smaller % as I only kept it in my kids' accounts. I got a little too smart for myself on that one and never got a chance to reload full bore. I'm tempted to sell the remainder at these prices though (I'm in pre consolidation from 4 bucks) ) to crystalize the gain. The big spike however on Friday has got me wondering about what's in the pipe... I really pounded the table earlier on Acclaim and it's a case of being intellectually right but not profiting as much as possible from your discovery... c'est las vie... The % distribution return is too low now for me to consider buying , unless Monday gives us some startlingly great news and I become a dip buyer. Vermillion trust was like that... I liked that one a lot but went with more Acclaim and Baytex at the time. It made a lot of money for some cyber pals since I brought it to the table under 13 which is why I'll watch AE closely for a while.
VKR I didn't care for as much when other folks were buying it earlier although I did have some. Now however VKR is by far my largest trust holding. I bought pretty heavily (for me) into the last offering and own quite a whack. It's a funny trust. They get no respect but they always seem to get the job done. I own it now since I'm getting pretty close to 17% return as I bought so much @ the 5.70 offering.
In general on the trusts they are getting even more recognised now it seems if that's possible south of the border... To my mind now it's becoming even more a big interest rate bet... which is why I'm more leery of the lower yielders now. (also why I chose VKR this go). I also bought a fair bit of PMT.UN around 11 ish but not as much as I should have :o). A classic regret when stocks go up LOL... I'm looking to add PMT.UN on dips. The return is decent and looks to improve. I'm not convinced that compensation for the shut in wells is built in to the price either. I also like BTE.UN on dips but missed the last one by a bit... (I own some)... My TA is still very suspect... :o)
I'll also drop a comment on the wheat pool. Yes the shares out are humongous... and playing for nickles is part of the story here for me. I'd been doing that for a while but missed the opportunity on the last run up before this one as I thought ... this might be it... There is even more heavy duty resistance higher up I think so.........Anyway I'm keeping a core and trading around it... It seems to work better for my disposition. I've found a few stocks like that recently. I don't worry about it taking off without me and I don't get stuck riding too many down like Slim Pickens on the nuke in Dr. Strangelove :o) This was my Acclaim approach before but I sold way too much and waited too long last time... Also FWIW Acclaim has got to be one of the best poster stocks for positive money flow... a true see of green...
Don't worry about the flames John. Life is too short. One shot and I'm done. We're pretty much all ghosts here on the net and I prefer to do my real ghost shooting at Canada's Wonderland on the Scooby Doo Haunted mansion ride with my five year old :o)
Regards
Kastel
EDIT I also own Navigo and will buy on hard dips... but that is still a small holding. Oh and a little of the sugar trust RSI.UN.
