Argyll, I love dog stories period, and have one of my own. This past summer my son rescued a skin and bones, flea infested pup that was about 4 months old at the time, wandering the streets of Philly. I watch the rescue show on Animal Planet occasionally, and if they'd seen Gizzy, he would have been put to sleep. He was thinner than the dogs they show that they do put to sleep. He was so weak that he couldn't climb our stairs in spite of the fact that he has turned out to be a large dog, and was even fairly large then. For the first few days we had to carry him everywhere. Anyway, he has turned into an absolutely beautiful dog, and he is incredibly powerful, powerful enough that he leaps over our 4 1/2 foot high fence all the time.
He was hit by a small truck a few months ago, made a huge dent in the truck's bumper, and lay in the street dying, or so we thought. My son rushed him to the emergency pet hospital where they wanted to stitch him up, and keep him for a few days. My son brought him home instead and by the time he got home, he charged up the stair steps like nothing had ever happened. The vet had estimated 14 stitches would be needed to sew up his face, but within a week, the wound was completely healed. Gizzy is our wonder dog.
