We already see a trend to shift the treatment paradigm from non specific immunomodulator drugs toward direct antiviral therapies in HCV. Combining polymerase and protease inhibitors in a strategy similar for HIV, is the next step. I also think that INFORM-1 study protease/polymerase is only the first in the path of direct antiviral combo and I'm sure others will follow. I expect the data will show synergistic profile for combos with less resistance. Still early to know if interferon or ribavirin can be taken out from future regimens but I think in time they will.
