The seed-spitting contest is done with watermelon seeds (in the Watermelon Capital). You do 40 feet...Wow! ;)
Some of the other towns have even sillier contests...there's the turkey race in Gonzales, Texas... where the birds are commercially raised and sold. There is the strawberry capital. Poteet...I forget what they do there...then there is a hog-calling contest somewhere...a moseying contest in Luckenbach along with a washer-tossing event. Oh yeah, in Fredericksburg...the peach capital, they spit peach pits. Too much info? LOL Okay, I'll quit.
