Interesting. My IB rep said the same thing over the phone - "manage the risk" - but then the manager called minutes later to assure me that he didn't expect me to pay $1500 for 1 share. The fact that prior to my 100-share sell I had written confirmation from two IB reps that the "Corporate Action" had been completed and that I was free to sell the 100 shares without possibility of going short might have motivated the manager to call me. He might have been trying to head off problems down the road. Whatever, it worked out fine for me and I'm glad it worked out fine for you.
