All you can eat for free -- if you’re fat

Posted Mar 09 2009, 02:12 PM by Karen Datko

We've reported on numerous restaurant deals here, but none quite like this one at the Heart Attack Grill in Chandler, Ariz.: If you weigh 350 pounds or more, you can eat for free all day long. That's a heck of a deal considering the cheapest burger -- the Single Bypass -- costs about $7.40.

We have to give "Dr. Jon," who runs this place, kudos for truth in advertising. With buns dipped in lard and Flatliner Fries cooked in pig fat, too, this is killer food, so to speak. The good "doctor" says in one video that "this is bad for you and it's going to kill you," and adds in another that all fast-food restaurants should post health warnings.

No takeout is involved with the all-you-can-eat offer. Beverages aren't included. And you must weigh in before every burger. (We're not sure why.)

What can you expect at the Heart Attack Grill, which advertises "taste worth dying for"?

* Reviews of the food ranged from great to poor at this Web site, with most disappointed with the taste. We think it depends on how much you like grease. One bonus: The restaurant serves Coca-Cola containing sugar, which is bottled in Mexico.
* Some customers (mostly men) enjoyed the overall experience -- an all-you-can-eat French fries bar and waitresses dressed in skimpy "nurse's" outfits who will push you to your car in a wheelchair if you finish the 2-pound Quadruple Bypass Burger. (They boast that it has 8,000 calories. The FAQs page at the restaurant's Web site says the fastest time for consuming the big burger was one minute and 47 seconds.)
* You won't find healthy food here, except for tomatoes and onions on the beef. The FAQs page also has this Q&A:

Q: Why don't you carry Diet Coke?

A: Next question.
