Maybe but selling MRK stock @ generational lows, AND 6X earnings to the SGP shareholders, and financing alot of the purchase- combined with the fact the balance sheets @ both firms are now subject to credit agency scrutiny. Neither is a strong as it used to be, in fact SGP has much more debt than cash and MRK is not what it once was...IE: AAA looking- So it's a merger of proposed necessity ....I mean why doesn't Dow marry DuPont? FDX +UPS? They could fire more workers.
