Dear professor, If employment is at full level, yes increased productivity will increase GDP, but that only goes up by 2 or 3%. There is no excuse to be running deficits at full employment. In fact that's the time to run surpluses, in order to have room for deficits in recession. It was done in the late 1990's, and the country was in good prosperity at the time. The economic cycle has not gone away. We have to manage it with counter cyclical spending and taxation. The current leadership understand it finally.
