<<Very interesting development.>> MSFT a year ago pre-empts all Tech companies and gets rid of policy of not expensing options and starts with a meager dividend but that seems to have been just the clue.
Techs fight scream yell, use every trick they can think of, from mass hysteria employee marches to strong arm relentless lobbying.
And they are still fighting, trying to block the FASB regulation to make expensing options mandatory.
Gawd forbid if the tech companies were ever to think of the shareholders.
Now, whammo, MSFT, is to now reward shareholders with a slammo dividend, and you know MSFT can very likely keep this up.
Other, shareholder conscious techs, "dividend?, what the hell is a dividend!?"
i think, i hazard, i conjecture, MSFT is separating themselves from the Techs because this very smart company sees the handwriting on the wall, the outrageous P/Es tech casino is going to die in due time, and MSFT will not be there when it does because, again, they have seen the future before the others and are leaving the others techs in the dust of their philosophy of " shareholders, like who are they?"--- IMHO.
