I live in the murder capital of the country and guns are illegal here.

WASHINGTON – While it is an article of faith among gun-control proponents that government restrictions on firearms reduces violence and crime, two new U.S. studies could find no evidence to support such a conclusion.
The National Academy of Sciences issued a 328-page report based on 253 journal articles, 99 books, 43 government publications, a survey of 80 different gun-control laws and some of its own independent study. In short, the panel could find no link between restrictions on gun ownership and lower rates of crime, firearms violence or even accidents with guns.

look, i know i'm not going to change your mind

and you're not gonna change mine

and i don't really think our laws will change as far as hand guns go

but it's a very easy equation

the more guns that are out there, the more people get shot

where i live most of the people that get shot are the stupid crooks killing each other, you know the story

but there are always times where simple robberies against innocent people by stupid punks with a hand gun end up committing a tragic murder that effects all the lives connected to the person who gets murdered

we've had the National Guard here since Katrina just to try to stem the hoodlums returning after the storm

i've been to Europe (Spain mostly) and you can walk the streets at the wee hours of night in Barcelona and feel relatively safe because the petty crooks just don't have handguns... i'll take my chances in hand to hand combat against someone with a knife or a bat any day as opposed to any kind of gun... kind of a no-brainer

You can kill someone with a knife or a baseball bat. (although I've never read of some kid knocking off 20 of his classmates that way... I guess anything's posssible)

Gun advocates aren't lobbying for gun ownership though. Gun advocates are lobbying for gun sales. At least have the honesty to say what you mean. It's like Philip Morris standing up for "smokers" rights. Please.
