Zeev, I googled for the web site http://www.berlinerboerse.de/ Click on 'Aktien/Anleihen' [top left] to get a list of hot stocks [only on trading days]. I don't know how to get a list of US stocks trading there. You could email eva.klose@boerse-berlin-bremen.de and ask for it.
do you think you can compile a list of US companies trading to the German Berlin/Bremen exchange or direct us to where we can find such. It looks as if many companies trading there experience excessive volatility. ===============================================================
Hi Zeev, Excessive volatility indeed! You are being too kind.
The Berlin-Bremen Exchange is earning the reputation as one of the last bastions of the naked shorter. <ng>
One of my micro golds, GPXM.OB issued this statement after sucessfully getting de-listed from Berlin about six weeks ago,
Golden Phoenix Minerals, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: GPXM - News), which specializes in the acquisition and development of deposits in the western United States that contain gold, silver, copper and other strategic minerals, today announced that it has delisted from the Berlin Stock Exchange.
A number of U.S. publicly traded companies had been listed and traded on the Berlin-Bremen Stock Exchange without the permission on the individual companies. Concern has been detailed by the financial media that certain brokers might be using the German listings to avoid U.S. restrictions against "naked short selling." This practice can force the price of a stock down through the selling of non-existent shares of stock.
"We believe the delisting is in the best interest of our shareholders and that is why we moved expeditiously in this matter," said Michael Fitzsimonds, CEO. "We are confident that the listing had a significant negative impact on our stock price and we are pleased that we no longer have this impediment to the legitimate trading of our stock."
A third junior, Canadian based SUR.V wasn't even aware of their Berlin listing until I mentioned it during a conversation with one of their Vancouver people a couple of weeks ago and I am assured they will address the problem as soon as possible.
The following is an excerpt from an article I think/hope you will find to be of interest:
Naked short selling is worrisome for hundreds of small U.S. companies, including those recently asking to be delisted from the Berlin Stock Exchange, such as Golden Phoenix Minerals, Inc. (GPXM), Nannaco, Inc. (NNCO), 5G Wireless Communications, Inc. (FGWC), CyberAds, Inc. (CYAD), Provectus Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (PVCT), House of Brussels Chocolates (HBSL), InforMedix, Inc. (IFMX), Tissera, Inc. (TSSR), Americana Publishing, Inc. (APBH), Celsion Corporation (CLN), ChampionLyte Holdings, Inc. (CPLY), Pickups Plus, Inc. (PUPS), China Wireless Communications Inc. (CWLC), CareDecision Corp. (CDED), Titan General Holdings, Inc. (TTGH), IPVoice Communications, Inc. (IPVO), Whistler Investments (WHIS), WARP Technology Holdings, Inc. (WRPT), BGR Corp. (OTCBB: BGRR), ICOA, Inc., (ICOA), DICUT, INC. (OTCBB: DCUTE), NHC Communications Inc. (NHC), Stratus Services Group, Inc. (SERV), Golden Phoenix Minerals, Inc. (GPXM).
Berliner Freiverkehr (Aktien) AG has been singled out as the broker and market maker that has been "listing" the companies. It is suspected that one broker, RA Angsar Limprecht, is involved in all if not most of the listings.
Small public companies are squeezed not only by hedge funds, naked short sellers, overseas listers such as the Berlin Stock Exchange, and the out-of-control "Stock Borrow Program" run by the governance-conflict-laden Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation, but to the amazement of the industry, as often and not by their own regulators.
I don't have an 'organized' list of US companies that are listed on the Berlin Exchange, but it seems that this page of 30 listings leads to 67 additional pages of all the companies, regardless of origin, that have been listed there so (in date order) since the beginning of 2004.
And in closing for now, this page (in English) seems to be a search engine for the stocks that are currently being traded there. Fwiw, SUR.V came up with a quote while the recently delisted GPXM came up w/o one, so... happy hunting Zeev.
If you want to check a specific stock for berlin listing\ volume you can get a yahoo quote or a yahoo chart on the sybol.be. For example to check berlin stock exchange volume on OMNI for last six months: http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=OMNI.BE&t=6m
