(Published: April 30th, 2008 ) Deep Down Inc. (Houston) has acquired deepwater buoyancy and polyurethane elastomer systems manufacturer Flotation Technologies Inc. (Biddeford, ME), tapping into strong growth in the offshore oil industry, where Flotation’s products are employed. Flotation had record growth in 2007, doubling revenue and staff, while tripling capacity with a new plant. Deep Down believes the deal will increase its market share in the offshore and oceanographic industries by adding new customers, as the two company’s lines were largely complementary. Flotation designs and manufactures deepwater buoyancy systems using high-strength FlotecT syntactic foams and polyurethane elastomers. Deep Down provides installation management, engineering and support services, custom fabrication, and storage management for the offshore subsea control, umbilical, and pipeline industries. On the basis of lighter weight, easy fabrication, low cost, and high heat resistance, the U.S market for conductive polymers is forecast to reach 230,700 tonnes by 2010. In a
