I used to follow markets a bit, and recall looking for a public-private shorts link, but can't find it now.

I think P/C (put call ratios) on the CME site is probably what the smart money uses (if there's any left).

I got curious about stocks short interest again a while back re the naked short rule enforcement issue. People at the SEC couldn't even tell me if the "new" rule was retroactive. Your comment got me thinking about the numbers again.
