Holey Moley, Cap...I've only read 4 or 5 posts and I understand what you meant now!
Is anybody on this board familiar with Audie Murphy's book from years ago (World War 11)...To Hell And Back? My great-Uncle is mentioned by name in that book...he, too...just as Audie Murphy did...received a battlefield commission after enlisting in the U.S. Army at age 17...after lying about his age. I read some of his private notes about the war ..and how he felt when he was among the soldiers who liberated a particular concentration camp.
He had a chestful of ribbons...including the Purple Heart. He was also reported missing in action at one point ...later he was found in a Polish concentration camp. In other words, he was a true war hero. I was fortunate enough to meet him shortly before his death several years ago. I asked him if he had to do it all over again...what would he do. Yep...he said he wouldn't have changed a thing as he loved this country and thought it was worth fighting for...
When I read some of the crap posted on this board about the outrage over how some prisoners of war were treated recently, it makes me want to puke. They don't know what true torture is, Cap!
How can anyone read the drivel posted by some here without wanting to hurl....or laugh, at the utter stupidity of those who don't know what they're talking about?
