Susie...yes, you are correct, they are part of the blue laws that pander to the religious right. They stop no one from drinking and only serve to inconvenience the citizens of the country.

Texas openly calls the taxes on alcohol and tobacco "sin taxes", as if, by being good XXXXXXXX's they don't pay the taxes but the sinners do...

Susie..They actually did have religion in mind when making some of the blue laws. The Sunday after 12 law was made under the assumption that people went to church Sunday morning..and they didn't want anyone attending a service under the influence.
